Acapulco is officially known as Acapulco Juarez city. It is a port and resort city. In the 1500’s, the area where Acapulco is located was a small Indian village, but by 1550 the Spaniards founded the city of Acapulco there. They built seaports in the city so they could explore and trade the Pacific. In the 1950s the city was expanded to increase the tourism industry of Mexico, and now has over 250 hotels and motels for vacationers.

This small city is one of the world’s most popular tourist attractions. It is located in hilly, forested areas, and has a lot of beautiful scenery. People also enjoy its sunny, warm climate and beautiful beaches. There are many restaurants and clubs in the city. La Quebarda Cliffs is another attraction here, where divers plunge into the water, about 150ft below. The tricky part is the water is shallow except for when waves come in, and that’s the only safe time to dive.

This is a view from the top of the cliffs where divers jump from.
