Abstract
Expressionism
Abstract expressionism was widely famous in the 1940s in the United States after the World War II. Instead of painting an object or person, abstract expressionism is a study of color and brush strokes.
The two major types of abstract expressionism are action painting and color field painting. Jackson Pollock was a famous artist who mastered in action painting. Action painting is when an artist splashes or dribbles paint on a canvas to “achieve a spontaneous effect.” On the other hand, a color field painting painter like Mark Rothko focuses on the paint color and shapes in the drawings.
Abstract expressionism painters showed their emotions on their artwork and through their paintings, a new generation of art had begun.
