Omar Nelson Bradley

    Omar Nelson Bradley was one of the greatest military leaders in the U.S. history. He led his army to fight the opposing forces during the World War II in the 1940's and he earned many peoples’ respect during the process.

    During the years 1940 to 1943, Bradley was promoted from an assistant secretary of the general staff to a major general. The armies that he took over often became a great help in the war. In 1944, General Bradley commanded the first U.S. Army and the 12th Army Group in the Normandy Invasion and ensured the Allied victory against the Germany. He became the highest ranking American commander after Dwight D. Eisenhower and in 1949, he became the first chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

    Omar N. Bradley passed away in 1981. He was the only 5-star American general besides Eisenhower. Bradley was a great hero who helped to provide Americans a better future and a better life… in peace.
