The Four Treasures has been used for a long time, dating back to ancient China. Do you know why these tools are called the Four Treasures? It is because the Chinese scholars cannot write calligraphy and draw without these important tools. These four tools got to be use together, cannot use one without the others.

Ink Stone

Out of the Four Treasures, the ink stone is the most important. The ink stone is used to hold and make the ink. Some people like the ink stone because the design on the ink stone is very pretty. There are different kinds of design. Some people think that the ink stone is part of the Chinese culture, a form of art.

Brush

The brush has an important place in the Four Treasures. In modern time, such as now, there are different kinds of brush. Each brush is used for a different purpose and for different writing. These kinds of brush can be mostly found in China.

Ink

Ink is one of the famous Four Treasures. Calligraphers treat it as a treasure. Although, the ink seems very common, the use of it could change your mind. The ink comes in many different colors and quality.

Paper

Paper is one of China's inventions, making it a glory for the Chinese. The calligraphers use the Xuan Paper because this types of paper absorb the ink very fast. The result of this combination (ink and paper) came out to be very nice. For a good result, don't use smooth paper when writing calligraphy because it is not a very good absorbent of ink.
