2. Abraham
Lincoln is the only president to hold a patent.
The patent number is 6,469 for “A Device for
Buoying Vessels Over Shoals” that was granted on May 22,
1849. However, his
invention was never manufactured perhaps because it added too much
weight to the vessel that might cause it to get stuck on a sandbar. The
model that Lincoln handed in with his patent application was carved
with his own hands. The model is now on display at the Smithsonian
Institution National Museum Of American History.
3.Silly
Putty was invented by General Electric when they were trying
to make a material like rubber during World War II. Since
then Silly Putty has sold over 200 million stuffed eggs that
amounts to over 3,000 tons of the stuff since 1949.

The game Monopoly is a registered trademark. It is interesting
to note that the company that makes it prints out about $40
billion worth of paper money just a little more than half
of real money that is printed by the U.S. Bureau of Printing
and Engraving.
