We
also had the opportunity to speak with the parents.

Question:
How did you feel?
Mom:
I was really upset for several reasons. First because I thought
my son knew better and second, because the cable company was
going after my child who was only fourteen at the time. We
had to hire a lawyer which cost several thousands of dollars
and then we had to pay the fine. The company was asking for
more money but our lawyer was able to get a reduced settlement.
Question:
Were you embarrassed?
Mom:
I think I was more angry than embarrassed. Later on I thought
it would be a good idea to publish the names of people who
committed theft of service. I'm glad they didn't do that back
then but I think maybe more parents would get involved with
what their children were doing if they were made to feel embarrassed.
They do that with kids that drink illegally.
Question:
Do you have any advice?
Mom:
Just try to teach your kids the right thing. Many parents don't
know too much about the Internet and downloading music but
they do know about cable. I think parents have to sit down
with their kids and explain the consequences. I think parents
should visit your website to learn as much as they can about
piracy from you kids. Keep up the good work!
