He was raised in Abilene, Kansas and he spent most of his life there. Eisenhower graduated with his six brothers from Abilene High School as graduating class of 1909.  Eisenhower had a part time job at Belle’s Creamery, but that didn't last as he enrolled in the Military Academy in June 1911. Though his parents were against the military, they were not against their son entering West Point. Eisenhower was an amazing athlete who had tackled the legendary Jim Thorpe. He graduated in 1915 as a legend himself.  Dwight married Mamie Doud on July 1, 1916 and they had two sons.

Dwight David Eisenhower was a great military leader.  He was in charge of directing the allied forced in World War II and the D-Day invasion of France.  When he returned from his military duties, he was a popular guy.          Eisenhower was elected president twice. Under his administration, he expanded the Social Security program, aid to education and the Interstate Highway System.  In 1957, President Eisenhower send federal troops to Arkansas to enforce school integration.  He also ordered the complete desegregation of the Armed Forces.  He worked very hard during his two terms to ease the tensions of the Cold War.   In 1958, he started to build alliance with third world countries like Lebanon.  Eisenhower wanted world peace.  After his administration he become an advisor for president Kennedy and Johnson.  He died on March 28, 1969.
