Octopus are invertebrates. That means they don’t have any backbone. Octopuses have 8 arms.
The arms of the octopus are called tentacles. Octopuses use their arms to move around.
The tentacles can also be used to grab food. On each of the tentacles, there are suction cups.
On each arm, there is a total of 240 suction cups. This helps them to grab and hold their prey.

When an octopus defends itself it squirts ink, swims quickly, or camouflages. When the octopus squirts ink, the ink attracts its predators and make it go away. eat clams, crabs, lobsters, and shellfish. Some octopuses eat fish.
