.....Animals of all kinds live in the huge oceans that cover over 70% of the Earth.
Even the smallest of these organisms called plankton are very important to life in
the ocean.  Krill and copepods are shrimplike plankton that live in the ocean and provide food for many other sea animals including fish and even whales.  Even in
the polar areas where the water is very cold, the seas contain animals such as
whales, cod, halibut and seals.  The coral reefs of the tropical areas are home to many animals including lobsters and many brightly colored fish.  Anemones,
barnacles, mussels, octopuses and starfish live in shallow waters near the shore.
Even in the deepest parts of the  dark ocean where it is extremely cold, animals
such as anglerfish, clams and tubeworms live. Staying close to the ocean surface
are flying fish, manta rays, marlins and porpoises.

.....The ocean’s sea life population is huge  and  very varied, from the smallest plankton to the largest whale. Examples of fish one might see in the ocean are clownfish, eels, salmon, sharks and tigerfish. The ocean is also home to sea mammals, including dolphins, humpback whales, otters, sea lions, and walruses.  Other forms of sea life include anemones, lobsters and shrimp, jellyfish, octopus, sea turtles, kelp, and penguins.  Click on the pictures below to begin to learn about some of these exciting  and mysterious animals.
