Antarctica, a Wonder Continent

Our web group officially decided that Antarctica is a natural wonder itself.  This
mysterious continent is located on the bottom of the globe.  Antarctica was formed 150 million years ago.  When it was first formed it had trees, plants, and it was really warm.  For millions of years Antarctica has been held in the ice age.
We feel that Antarctica is a wonder because of its size and beauty.  With its ice cap Antarctica is 5.4 millions square miles.  This continent is bigger than Australia or Europe! Antarctica is a beautiful continent.  It has
spectacular dry valleys, glaciers, and the Antarctic ice shelf.
Scientists believe that in 1821 an American whale hunter named John Davis was the first one to reach Antarctica.  Antarctica has no human population it is freezing!!!  The coldest temperature is 128.6 below 0°F.  Winters are
ferocious and the sun never rises.  In the summer the sun never sets.  Antarctica has only one mammal, the Weddell Seal, and has only two flowering plants.
Antarctica is a world park.  It is a continent used for peaceful, scientific purposes.
