Chichen Itza is a man-made wonder. It is located in Mexico on the continent of North America. There are five reasons Chichen Itza is a wonder. The first one is its size. It is 79 feet tall. It has 91 stairs that lead to a temple called The Castle. The second reason is for its construction. It is a huge city built only out of stone. There are a lot of stone statues in Chichen Itza. The 3rd and 4th reasons are its cultural importance and its religious importance. The Mayan people who lived there built many temples, palaces, and monuments. The name Chichen Itza means, at the mouth of the Itza’s well. This well was a big part of their culture and religion. The 5th and last one is antiquity. Chichen Itza is an old Mexican city. It was built around 600 A.D. by the Itza, a Mayan people.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is a natural wonder. It is located on the continent of North America. It borders the United States and Canada. Niagara Falls is a wonder because of its formation and size. Niagara Falls was formed during the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. It is made up by two falls, the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The cliffs were worn down by the water always crashing over them and a deep gorge has been formed. Niagara Falls is 164 feet high and more than 3,280 feet wide. It is famous for the large amount of water that falls down the cliffs. Over 440,000 gallons of water fall per second. The sound of so much water falling is very noisy. |
