The Brooklyn Bridge
    
     The Brooklyn Bridge is a man-made wonder on the continent of North America. It is located in the country of New York State. It is known for its
construction, size, antiquity, and function. When it was built there was no electricity or any skyscrapers. The Brooklyn Bridge was the first suspension bridge built. It was the most important structure in America during the 19th century. John Augustus Roebling, with his family and a construction crew built The Brooklyn Bridge. At that time, all of the tallest buildings were only 4 or 5 floors high. Its stone towers were the tallest most massive structures on the continent. The Brooklyn Bridge is 5,989 ft long. They called The Brooklyn Bridge the 8th wonder of the world. The Brooklyn Bridge is 122 years old. It is more than 100 feet above The East River. It was finished in 1883. It was built so the people who lived in Brooklyn had an easier commute to Manhattan.  The Brooklyn Bridge is a bridge people can walk on. Before The Brooklyn Bridge was built, to get in to Manhattan from Brooklyn you had to take a ferry.
