  • How Can I Fix it?

Pocket Tips: Saving your money, saving the Earth:

1.Turning electric power off from electric devices: by using less electricity you will be relieving your wallet on electric bills, consequently produce less carbon dioxide emissions.

    2. In your office equipments, mainly desktop computers can raise up your electric bill compared to a laptop: consider obtaining a laptop for your next computer upgrade. "Look for ENERGY STAR computers, copiers, printers, and fax machines when purchasing new equipment. ENERGY STAR products use about half the electricity of standard equipment"

    3. Reuse of plastic bags and containers: A great way to reduce pollution and accumulation of garbage is by reusing shopping bags! Reuse the bags in creative ways:
    (a) When going shopping, you will have a bag ready instead of getting more bags from the stores. That helps the community from wasting more bags.
    (b) It is useful on rainy days. Use it to cover yourself if you ever forget to check the weather that day. And when you are out on the rain, coming inside a store or any building, it is not safe leaving your umbrella lying about, risking it to be taken; by using your recycled plastic bag, you keep your umbrella secure, and dry if in your hand bag.
    (c) A plastic bag is more than just garbage: It can hold your garbage! Take a plastic bag with you at all times, you will never know what surprising uses you can do with it. Whether to use it as a garbage bag, packing lunch, as a glove to pick after pet, grocery bag, trash liner, pet litter liner, or when a friend needs it, you'll be ready to lend a BAG to help!
    (d) Bags can also do art: Use it as a layer to cover for any splatters or mess; make Halloween ghost out of a white plastic bag.
    (e) Finally, donate: you can collect them until you have a whole bunch and take it somewhere where they accept recyclable bags [e.g. local animal shelter, grocery stores, etc.]

    4. Flyers flying around? Pick it up, its paper! Use it as a draft for writing assignments or put it straight to recycling. It is helpful to keep it clean on the streets for the health of the community and yourself.

    5. Reuse and recycle glass containers: Good for craft [candles, gifts, potpourri jar, etc.]; store jam, soaked/pickled fruits, condiments, etc.

    6. Recycling rewards!
    (a) Most bottled and canned beverages are recyclables; they are worth around 5-10 cents!
    (b) Let's compliment both plastic bags and plastic bottles or cans: when you are shopping in a mall or street or even a store, and you are drinking your favorite canned or bottled drink; after you finish, no trash cans are nearby. What would you do? Have your plastic bag on you? We scored the trash in the bag, and recycled both, 100 points!
