Nepali Snacks Many of the Nepali snacks consists of rice, since it is a major crop. One such snack is called Chiura, which is by mashing soaked rice with a mallet. This is a very popular snack among common people in Nepal. Another snack is Roasted Chirua which is mixed with yogurt and is a sort of cereal. Chirua can be roasted in butter and sugar. Bhuja is rice popped in a pan with hot sand to distribute the heat. Some popular Nepali snacks are very close to Indian dishes such as Samosas, fried dough triangles filled with potato, or curried potatoes called Alu Daam. The cultures of the two countries are also very similar. This could be due to the fact that the two countries are so near.
