Operation Iraq Renewal

Operation Iraq Renewal is the High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology’s entry in the 2004 ThinkQuest competition.

Our team’s goal in creating Operation Iraq Renewal was to learn more about the past, present, and future challenges in Iraq and provide a means for other students to learn about this critical subject as well. To accomplish this goal, we stepped into the roles to roles of the Iraqi Governing Council.

We are the Iraqi Governing Council. Each of our 25 members represent the cultural, ethnic, and gender diversity of our nation. The sole purpose of the I.G.C. is to be a temporary government for Iraq so that the country can work towards independence and stability. Our aim is to achieve security in the nation, to revive the economy, and to deliver much needed public services. The I.G.C. is responsible for many domestic and foreign duties, the most significant of which is the creation of the Interim Constitution upon which our democracy will be based. On this project We focused on the main challenges of achieving peace, stability and prosperity in Iraq. The topics we cover include religion, oil and water, weapons proliferation, and disputes over land. You will find our original, in depth reports on these subjects on these pages.

Operation Iraq Renewal not only provides a unique, comprehensive analysis of the problems that Iraqis face, it also recommends remedies toward future growth—thus our ThinkQuest project’s name, Operation Iraq Renewal.

Throughout the course of the project, we recognized the importance of others beliefs. We decided to communicate with students in Switzerland to hear their opinions on topics dealing with the Middle East, go to the Forums to see what they wrote!

We believe that we have come out of this project as more knowledgeable and proactive citizens of our global community. We have been enriched by our study of events around the world. We have matured and prepared ourselves for whatever the future brings. We hope that you will share the same experience while studying the fascinating heritage and amazing possibility of the great nation of Iraq.
