Glue a piece of red or yellow construction paper on the inside of the cover. If you want a nice fancy look to the inside, cover it with tissue paper.

Write KEEP OUT with white or red paint on a piece of black construction paper.

Draw a skull and crossbones and paint it white. (optional)

Glue the KEEP OUT sign and crossbones on the lid.

Cut out 1/2 inch strips from the yellow construction paper and glue them to every edge on the chest. If you don't want to use construction paper, you can use gold glue. Use a paint brush to help spread it around every edge.

Draw a lock and handles. Color it gold. Attach it to the front and the sides of the treasure chest.

Use sequins, painted rocks, fake jewels, and glitter to make the lid of the treasure chest gem coated. (optional)
