Character analysis

Each character of a play is its own effects in it and is going to direct the process and consequences of the play. Master Wendoll is the friend to Frankford. His appearance affects Frankford's marriage life. A stone is coming close to a mirror. The conditions are being tension. John Frankford, Anne's husband trusts him. Because of her husband's attitude at him makes him say that Wendoll is a kind, faith, and fond man. Wendolls involves in a conflict among husband, wife, and lover.

When begins having conversation with Anne, he is gradually being attracted by her charms of perfection. Of course, at the beginning he tries to push down his temperature of blood and to slow down his heartbeat. As he says: “I am a villain, if I apprehend but such a thought!” Then, to attempt the deed slave, thou art damned without redemption! This point reveals that Wendoll is faithful and trusted friend. He knows its reactions cannot have actions because it has terrible consequences. However, he has weakness of kindness. When he sees Anne his eyes are froze. He prays to god says: “Why prayers are mediations, and when I mediate (O, forgive me!) It is on her divine perfections. I will forget her; I will arm myself not to entertain a thought of love to her.” These are his efforts attempt to get away of temptation. His kindness pulls him back not to hurt his friend as a villain and a traitor. His heart is up and down. He is the most important character because his actions are the key point of the whole play.

Nonetheless, he is still in control of his human weakness. He cannot control himself physically and psychologically. His fondness drives him to get closer to Anne. Both of them are under the control of temptation. Finally, I commit the adultery. Anne betrays her husband and Wendoll is a traitor to his friend, Frankford. Personalities make a decision for people's destiny. Life is the structure of human's personalities.

Theme analysis

A woman killed with kindness is an Elizabethan domestic tragedy. But Heywood Thomas wrote it as a morality play. His language is straight forward and direct, and the play has simplicity of structure that gives it a modern feel. This play shows people why people always make mistakes, not because of their unawareness is because of their human weakness of temptation. The story tells us no to cheat on your husband, wife, or friends. We must be sympathetic and compassionate toward human weakness, or love is a higher virtue than self-discipline. Or is it the other way around? The author uses the characterization of Welldon and Sir Charles.

Welldon is the one has the greatest human weakness. He is completely out of control of his mind and heart. Because of his out of control makes him a different life. When falls in love with Anne, he is afraid to love or not, he knows that he cannot do that. It will make a villain and a traitor to his friend. However, he doesn't how to do. We can see human kindness through his pray to God. He says: “Why, prayers are meditations, and when I mediate, (O, God forgive me!) It is her divine perfections. I will forget her; I will arm myself not to entertain a thought of love to her.” This makes him to miss Anne more often. In fact, it makes himself upset, disappointed, and loss of hopes. His situation gets worse.

Sir Charles shows a typical example of remorse of people after doing wrong things. When he has a quarrel with Sir Francis over a wager, his fiery temptation drives him to kill two of Sir Francis' men. After it, he says: “Forgive me, God I' was in the heat of blood, and anger quite removes me from myself.” His helping evident human weakness, lots of things on the earth, which are not control by human. Their weakness makes them to commit mistakes. His is put into jail because of his murder.

The other one example of human weakness is shown by the author's narration. At the beginning of the play, there is a cheerful wedding going on. A pair of couple is going to walk on a new path of happiness and life. This happiness is shared to the all the creatures of god. The things created by god are perfect, but people make it worse. Nothing one the earth survives forever. Human weakness is the major weapon to ruin these perfections. The consequences due by human weakness are terrible. That is the main reason why people are suffering under their remorse on mistakes.

Human weakness is given by the god. However, it is tough for people to control it. I like this theme very much because it also arouses me not to stay in my past. Everyone makes mistakes not only me. Don't the remorse to hamper me to walk ahead to the future. The nature of the earth stays the same forever. None of people can change it. So, every one need to do the best as they can, when beautiful summer passes it will come again next year. But when our youth passes will it come back again.

Literary connection

A great work of literature has to do more than entertain; it has to explore the serious problems and concerns of life. A great work of literature is not only gives us a pleasant or a perfect imagination of life. It doses more than entertain. It provides us a path to walk on and to discover the facts and conflicts that are regarding to our real life. For instance, Willy Loman, the character of the Death of a Sales man and Wendoll the character of a Woman Killed with Kindness are same.

The theme of the Death of a Salesman tells us that the unrealistic dreams are destructive. Willy Loman‘s weakness makes him to stay in his own hallucinating world, Which is the same as Wendoll's weakness to involve in temptation. Their situations are different, but their underlying reasons are the same, the human weakness . Both their consequences are bad. Willy Loman's weakness of facing the reality makes him committing suicide. Wendoll even lose his lover Anne and becomes traitor and villain of his friend. Both of them have encountered me in my reading. I think it is a pity for Willy to lose his life and for Wendoll to lose his faith and trust. Both of them receive nothing at the end.

In the modern society, people still have a bunch of problems need to be solved. However, it is not that simple. People's weakness always plays a major role in hampering them to perform. The morale of the society stays the same. For example, when people try to prefer themselves, they never consider consequences and other people. Wendoll want to fulfill his heart by betraying his friend and without about others and its consequences. They just attempt to use any method, which can assist them to achieve their desire.
