   Floyd Bennett Field: The Aviators

Floyd Bennett was born in Warrensburg, N.Y. He had lived in Brooklyn. He went to the Navy for training in 1917. Floyd Bennett flew and was the first person to fly across the North Pole. He was given an award that was called Congressional Medal of Honor. Floyd was making plans to go flying again. But this time he was going to fly over the South Pole Expedition. When he went he didn't live to travel across the South Pole.

Amelia Earheart was the first woman pilot driver. She was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic ocean. She was the first woman to fly to Autogyro. In the 1936 Bendix Trophy Race, Am,elia came in 5th even after her plane was having flying problems. A year pasted in 1937 she took off for a plane trip. But she never returned. On the 20th in November, 1937 people had a parade for Amelia. It was an air parade. It was held at Floyd Bennett Field in her memory. Amelia must of been really famous because people from the Navy cost guard Army were there at the parade. My opinion is if Amelia had a child, she would grow up to be just like Amelia.

Howard Hughes set a world record. Alot people tried and tried to break his record but never triumphanted. Only one did. They don't mention his or her name. Floyd Bennett Field in July 10 1938 Howard Hughes and his crew of four set off for a round the world flight. When he came back, he came back in 3 days, 19 hours, and 17 minutes. He was like the fastest person to take flight. For me that would of been really fast. Usually, it'll take 2 weeks for someone to come back.

James Doolitle was a daredevil pilot. I think that he did stunts that were dangerous but he lived. He must have been an extreme pilot driver so that's how he was probably called a daredevil pilot. Jimmy Doolittle amauteur boxer. That means that he was a beginner. He quit boxing to join the air service during World War 1. He learned how to fly. He wondered if he should go to college or stay in the millitary. I would choose to go to college and then come back to finish in the millitary. Jimmy Doolittle was a good guy. If I was him I would quit the millitary and find a better place to stay and fly. Like go to Floyd Bennett Field. Then I would try to work hard enough and then I would get better so soon they could send me to a mission or job.

When Wiley Post was five, he and his family moved to Oklahoma. Wiley dropped out of school in the eighth grade. On his families farm he learned all he could remember about machines. His love for mechanic devices, he went to go to the country fair in 1913. When he saw his first airplane he wanted to become an aviator. But like other young men, Wiley was working as a mechanic in the oil field. One day when a plane flew over his head he remembered his dream and started to follow it. One day when he flew a plane a serious accident occured. His eye was hit. That's why he wears an eye patch. I thought that he just wore that for fun. I think that when he was alive he was able to fly again because he didn't fufil his dream. If he did fufil his dream I hope he lived long to tell about it. If I didn't I don't know what I would do!
