THINKQUEST P.S. 134Q 2005

   All about H.A.R.P.

H.A.R.P. stands for Historic Aircraft Restoration Project. This place is part of not other than Floyd Bennett Field.
Hangar B is in Floyd Bennett Field.Well it is definitely a hard working, busy, crowded, pandemonium place. You see the way I describe it as.
Harp is a volunteer effort. The seeds go back to the early days when Floyd Bennett Field was the first airport. From war years through the 1960's, military aircraft moved in and out. Through out the day and night. The aircraft including a C-47 Gooney Bird, C-45 Epedit, and more.
The hangar is closed over the winter because it is so cold inside! So it opens again during the Spring. It is very interesting and historical place that I suggest you visit when you have the time.
Old aircraft are still being donated to the H.A.R.P center in hopes the old machines would one day fly again. We hope so too, since these old style aircraft are very different from the planes flying out of New York's modern airports.
