THINKQUEST P.S. 134Q 2005

Interview with an on site Park Ranger

We had a chance to meet the non other than Ranger Todd Rosenhaus who is a fabulous worker at Floyd Bennett Field.
Mr. Rosenhaus invited us to go upstairs to the Control Tower, He told us that this tower replaced the orginal during Word War II.
The view was beautiful!!!!! From up there it was easy to look out the window and understand how important Floyd Bennett Field was to the history of flying airplanes.
There was a lot of fixing to be done, but Mr. Rosenhaus mentioned that one of the hangar's is going to become a place for playing ice hockey and more, and should bring in money to help fix up this historic airfield.
The stainglass on the ceiling of the Administration Building's lobby was also pointed out. It was quite beautiful. The ranger continued to explain there used to be a giant mural that hung on the walls that was taken down in the 1940's for being objectionable in some way. Here are a few pictures left of the missing mural.
Here is a visualization of the ice hockey field Mr. Rosenhaus mentioned that is also going to include a gym. These people gave Floyd Bennett Field a $15 million dollar contract. They have to approve of each piece of brick added and keep the hangar historically accurate.
My opinion is that even though that's a good idea, I wouldn't want a sports place. I would like it if they would just keep Floyd Bennett Field regular. Floyd Bennett Field would be better if they could restore and keep it an airport.
