When the first men were on earth, the earth gave in plenty and the men’s lives were easy. Soon the men forgot to honor their creators so Quetzacoatl. Quetzatacoatl saw a couple that was not like the other men and decided to spare them. The husband was Teta and the wife was Nena. Quetzacoatl gave them instructions. “Find the tallest and strongest hollow tree. Take shelter in it and you will live, but only take one cob of corn.” Teta and Nena obeyed and lived happily ever after.
Quetzacoatl flooded the oceans and turned his greedy creation into fish. Tertra and nina survived and repopulated the world with humble people. The earthmother became mean and evil. She decorated herself with human bodyparts and sepents and was called the “granmother.” She became hungry for human blood and demanded a sacrifice. The humans gave one human heart a year as tribute.
