Hurricanes
A hurricane can be up to
600 miles in diameter and can reach eight miles into the air. Warm water is an
engine to hurricanes. It gives hurricanes a greater impact to hit other places.
(For Example: A hurricane will have a greater impact on Florida than on
Antarctica.)
Hurricanes need tropical oceans, moisture and
light winds above them if the right condition last long enough. A hurricane
produce violent winds, incredible waves, rains and floods.
Since
1943 US military aircraft have been flying into hurricanes to measures winds
velocities and directions, the location and size of the eye. Destructive
hurricanes in recent U.S history include the category 4 storms Huge (1989)
