We know you heard of all different kinds of twins but we bet you never heard of twins in space. NASA created the Twin Rovers which are robots that search planets for live specimens or any sign of human life. Right now the rovers are on Mars. They are looking at the environmental conditions of Mars.
The Twin Rovers, named Spirit and Opportunity, were sent to Mars - Opportunity in the year 2003 and Spirit the next year. Opportunity found evidence of water from long ago. Spirit has been climbing hills, examining rocks and soil. They are working very hard trying to find out about whether living things ever lived on Mars. Every day the scientists at NASA gather data from the two rovers.
The scientists at NASA think that the Twin Rovers have been more useful than any other robot that they have created. They have collected more data from them than any other robot. They are sure helping NASA to learn more about Mars and will continue to do so as long as they function.
