WE'RE ENDANGERED!

The jungle is the home of many animals. It also contains many endangered animals. Endangered animals are animals that are near extinction. There are many programs that try to help these animals. They provide food, shelter, and anything else the animals need. We should be aware of this and try to help these animals as well.

Bears are one of many endangered animals. The number of bears in the world are decreasing. There are eight species of bears. They include Back Bear, Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Asiatic Black Bear, Spectacled Bear, and everyone's favorite the Giant Panda Bear. Many bears die from starvation, diseases, and predators especially cubs. Many people destroy the bears habitat for the land or the bear itself. Bears are held captive are some are killed for their skin. A bear's skin can be used for rugs, coats, medicine, food, etc.

Elephant have been on this Earth for a million of years, but the number is decreasing every year. There are two species of elephants, African and Asian. Elephants can live up to 60 to 70 years. The threat of ivory stealing, loss of habitat, deforestation, and being killed for their meat are problems facing elephants. The many reason why elephants are killed is for their ivory. Their ivory is worth a lot of money and is used for different things. This is why it is hard for elephants to survive.

Hippos are the second largest land living animals. They live in groups and are usually in waters. Hippos have huge bodies and pillar-like legs. There are many reasons why they are becoming endangered. One reason is due to the loss of habitat by cultivation. Another reason is that many people kill hippos for self-protection. Lastly, hippos' trunks are very close to elephant's ivory, and maybe in the future they will have similar value.

Chimpanzees are known as cute animals, but there are not that many left. They are black and brown and also referred to as chimps. Chimps are the most closely living species to humans. They have 98% of our genes.  The one main threat to chimps is the loss of habitat. This is because of mining, forestry, and agriculture.

Tigers are one of the most important animals of a jungle. There were eight types of tiger species. Now there are only five left and the others are extinct! This includes the Caspian Tiger, Java Tiger, and the Bali Tiger. Tigers are losing their habitats. They are also being killed for their skin and body parts.

The animal that is considered the most endangered animal is the Giant Panda. They are black and white panda bears. The Giant Pandas are the largest of the bear family. Panda bears are endangered because their environment is being destroyed. Human beings chop down trees and other plants the animals need to survive. Also the panda's main source of food, bamboo, is deteriorating and is useless.  Pandas have no alternative food supply, and cannot move to areas with healthier bamboo because of growth of the Human population. Without he healthier bamboo, Pandas will continue to die and soon they will also be extinct.

There are many endangered animals out there. Most of them become extinct because of the loss of habitat and food. This is a result of the careless lifestyles of the human population. How would you feel if someone destroyed your whole environment and home? We need to put a stop to this. People need to realize how important animals are to nature and to our world. We get a lot of resources from the animals that are endangered. Let work together to stop the endangered animals from becoming extinct!
