Hunting in Maryland:

When it comes to hunting in Maryland it is quite different than most other states. The animals that are mostly hunted in Maryland are birds and deer. In Maryland there are a variety of birds. The types of birds hunted are the quail, and the pheasant. The hunting season in Maryland lasts from October 1st through March 31st.

A license in Maryland lasts from August 1 all the way to July 31 for residents only. In Maryland things are a bit different than the regulations from Connecticut. To hunt in Maryland and to buy a hunting license the state suggests for those who are minors to have a “Certificate of Completency” in Firearms or a Certificate stating that you have hunted before on private property or that you have had a license before. For minors who are under 16years old, they can have a free hunting license only if they have finished a course on hunting. This is only a one-time deal.

During the hunting season adults have to have their license. The most common license is the one that lasts the whole season. This particular license lets you hunt animals without any other permit. The cost for this particular license is $ 24.50. For a senior above 65 the cost is $5.00. For those individuals who are not from Maryland they could have the license, but it will cost more. The cost is $130.00. These are only licenses, for the whole season. If you are not planning to stay for the season but are willing to stay for a few days, there is the 3-day license for non-residents which cost $45.00. But for this Particular license you need the bird stamp to hunt birds. If you are not going to hunt birds then it is unnecessary.

There are also permits called Stamp. There are different types of these permits and each cost a different price. For example the Bird stamp costs $9.00, the Bow and arrow stamp which you should have if you own a Bow and arrow, and the deer stamp if you hunt deer.
