Hunting in New Jersey: New Jersey offers a wide variety of state-owned wilderness to open up hunting opportunities for sportsmen and women. This includes over 303,000 acres in 21 wild life management areas. New Jersey has very complicated hunting seasons that vary depending on the location and the type of weapon permit. Hunters can enjoy hundreds of days of deer hunting. This includes seasons for bow, firearms, shotgun, and muzzle-loading rifles. Deer is the main animal hunted in New Jersey, however, wild turkeys, waterfowls and migratory birds are occasionally hunted. When hunting deer using archery, the season dates are from September 10 through December 31, and January 2 through February 18. When hunting deer using firearms, the dates are from December 5-10. When hunting deer using the shotgun, the dates are November 21-23, December 14-16, and January 7-31. Finally when hunting deer using muzzle-loaders, the dates are from November 28-29, December 12-13, December 17-31 and January 2 through February 11. New Jersey has many hunting regulations. For instance, it is prohibited to hunt on Sundays. You are also prohibited from discharging a firearm or a bow from a motor vehicle, hunting using bait, and hunting using weapons that deliver or inject drugs into the animal.
