Pro and Anti Hunting Organizations

When we did our research, we were surprised to find that many organizations that sounded like they would be against hunting were indeed pro-hunting. We have listed some organziations that are both for and against hunting.

Pro - Hunting Organizations:

The American Forestry Association:

The Association supports hunting. The organization believes that hunting should be considered as a tool for wild life management. They support hunting because they believe that without hunting, the animals would soon be overpopulated.

The Wilderness Society:

The organization believes that hunting should be allowed and if carefully managed, can be a great tool in controlling the wildlife population.

The Izaak Walton League of America :

The league believes that hunting and the conservation of natural habitats come hand in hand. They believe that hunters can teach other responsibility to other hunters about their natural habitats. They believe that hunting is a great way to manage the natural world and is a great tool in protecting our natural resources.

The National Rifle Association of America :

The association believes that hunting is a great way to use the world's renewable natural resources. They believe that if this renewable resource were to be left to nature, it would be wasted by other natural courses.

The North American Wildlife Foundation:

The foundation believes that hunting should be allowed and that animals that are endangered are protected to the highest extent of the law. They support hunting animals that are deemed overpopulated. Animals that have a surplus in population should be hunted in order to control the numbers.

Outdoor Writers Association of America :

The association believes that without hunting, the many wildlife populations and the conservations they occupy would be destroyed, or brought down to the brink of demise. Hunters and the anglers that are under regulations, kill only a small percentage of the over populated wildlife that would other wise be wasted away by other natural causes.

The Wildlife Legislative Fund of America :

The organization believes that all acts of hunting should be allowed and is a given right. This organization is a strong believer in wild life management. They believe that hunting in all forms is the best way to manage the growing wild life populations.

Ducks Unlimited, Inc.:

The organization supports hunting and believes it plays a major role in managing wild life populations. They believe that hunting is a good way of using nature's renewable resources and that if left to the ecosystem, the resources would be wasted. This organization, though does not directly promote hunting, supports it by educating hunters about the natural world and how to successfully manage it.

The National Wildlife Federation:

This organization believes that hunting is the best way for the people to utilize the wild life, as it is a renewable natural resource. They believe that hunting is not the source of the problem that exists within the ecosystem, and that the problem lays within the ecosystem itself. They believe that hunting is the best way in solving this dilemma.

Wildlife Management Institute:

This organization supports and also encourages those who hunt and abide by the rules and regulations that are set by the government. They believe that hunting overpopulated animals and those that are not endangered is not against any state or federal law and that if practiced with care and caution, could help benefit the world of animals.

The Wildlife Society

They believe that hunting is no more then a sport. They believe that hunting is a great way to use a restore the wildlife population.

National Shooting Sports Foundation:

This organization supports hunting as a means to teach hunters to become a responsible gun owner. It believes that hunting is a great way for people to interact with nature and that the sport of hunting is perfectly fine. They believe that hunting, with the regulations and rules, is a tool that is needed in order to control the fluctuation of the wildlife populations. They state that hunting is the cause for bring the many species of wild life back to their original numbers and away from extinction.

Anti - Hunting Organizations:

The Humane Society of the United States :

This organization is against hunting and believes that hunting is wrong and that though there might be a time where the killing of animals might be needed in order to maintain the ecosystem by professionals that utilizes methods that kills the animal instantly and with out them suffering. They consider hunting a violation against all life.

Friends of Animals, Inc.:

They believe that the hunting of animals is outright cruel. They believe that the claims made by hunters are false. They believe that the hunters promote their ideals under false pretenses on how hunting protects the environment from being worn down by overpopulated animals. They believe that the government should take action and to give the same rights that are allotted to human beings towards animals.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

A national organization that promotes animal rights, veganism and the complete cessation of all animal exploitation

Committee to Abolish Sport Hunting

This organization strives to ban all hunting as they view it as a blood sport.
