Gertrude Ederly
During the 1900s, a famous swimmer named Gertrude Ederly swam the England and France Chunnel. This is how it all happened: She was swimming when she was eight, Gertrude Ederly had problems when she was swimming. Her father tied her onto the rope while she was swimming. She improved with swimming in the ages of nine and ten. When she was about 17 or 18 she was going to swim the England and France Chunnel. She swam day and night. Sometimes she didn't want to swim anymore, but she didn't give up. Her sister and her tutor swam in a ship next to her and gave her company. While she was swimming, they also gave her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while she was swimming in the ocean! Then at night she reached a light. She swam from France to England. Her father was waiting for her. People were saying, "Can you believe it, Gertrude Ederly was the first person to swim the England France Chunnel!' Her family was very proud of her. Now you have heard about Gertrude Ederly and what she did. Would you like to do something like that.
