...The Nervous System is made of the brain, the spinal cord and a
network of nerves that thread throughout the body. Nerves are thin
threads of cells called neurons that run throughout the body. They carry
messages back and forth to the brain. Sensory nerves send messages to
the brain. They connect to the brain through the spinal cord inside your
backbone or vertebral column. Motor nerves carry messages back from the
brain to the muscles in your body. The brain receives information from
your nerves to get actions or reactions. Neurons are thin. Some are small
and can be 3 feet tall. They are shaped like flat stars, which are pulled at
each end so that theyhave long fingers. The fingers of one neuron can
almost reach to the second one.
The Brain
(Forebrain) The forebrain or cerebrum is the largest and most complex
part of the brain. It’s where it contains information about who we are,
for example, intelligence, smarts, shyness, etc.
(Midbrain) The midbrain is located underneath the middle of the forebrain.
(Hindbrain) The hindbrain is located at the end of cerebrum and it consists
of the cerebellum. The cerebellum is also called the "little brain" because it
looks like a smaller version of cerebrum.
