...The Skeletal System is made up of bones. The skeleton of an adult body has
exactly 206 bones. It shapes the body and protects the internal organs. The
skeletal system works with the muscular system to help the body move. Bone
marrow, found in bones, is soft, fatty tissue. It produces red blood cells, many
white blood cells, and other immune system cells. Bones serve as a storage area
for minerals that the body needs, such as calcium and phosphorus.
.... The axial skeleton consists of bones that form the axis of the body and
support and protect the organs of the head, neck, and trunk. Bones are connected
to each other by ligaments. Where bones meet one another is called a joint.
