Italy is located in Southern Europe. Its length is about 750 miles from top to bottom. Italy is a peninsula, located in the Mediterranean Sea, that is shaped like a high-heeled boot .The bodies of water that surround it are the Ionian Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic Sea.The countries that border Italy are France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. Italy is made up of twenty regions. Its largest cities are Rome, Milan, Naples and Turin. It also has two small countries within it, Vatican City in Rome and The Republic of San Marino near the eastern coast.  Sicily and Sardinia are two large islands off Italy’s coast.
