All web-surfers are eager to catch the wave of technology.  But don’t forget to watch out for sharks!  Nowadays, there are many kids and teens that have become addicted to the internet.  Did you know that only 18% of teens who receive an online message from someone they don’t know report it to an adult?  Many kids and teens think that it is safe to post their picture online.  On the bright side, the majority of youth know that they should not give out their address or phone number.  Also, many parents have discussed the issue of internet safety with their children.  How much do you know about internet safety and addiction?

Mostly A’s- Umm…you might want to try and spend less time on the internet.  Also, make sure that everything you’re doing is age-appropriate!!!  If you are spending your time in chat rooms and posting information on your own personal page, you should learn more about internet safety.  Check out the “Protection Page” and “Resolutions” to get started.

Mostly B’s- Good for you!  You know how to share the internet with your parents.  More importantly, you have an excellent understanding of what is right and wrong while using the web.  Also, you are able to limit your time on the computer and make productive use of your online experience.

Mostly C’s- It seems like you use the internet less than you’d like.  Maybe you can set aside some time and check out some search engines or educational games online.  And if you’re ever bored, you can check out some fun websites.  But remember to ask for your parent’s permission before logging on!
