Bees around the world
People around the world are experiencing the loss of the disappearing bees.
Taiwan
Taiwan’s bee farmers are feeling the sting of lost business and crop danger after the loss of millions of bees. Over the past two months, farmers in three parts of Taiwan have said many of their bees have gone missing. They say over 10 million bees have vanished in Taiwan. A beekeeper in the north side of Taiwan said 6 million of his bees missing. Another beekeeper said 80 out of his 200 bee boxes have been emptied. Beekeepers usually let their bees out to pollinate plants and the bees normally come back to their owners. However, many of the bees have not returned to their hive. They think the cause for this disappearance is disease, pesticide poisoning, and unusual weather.
Italy
In Italy many Italian bees have been dying. Italy is very worried because they predict that Italian honey production will plummet 50% this year. Some people think that bees have been in reach with toxic substances before the bee reaches the hive. Scientists claim that this is far worse than the neighboring country, France.
Britain
The hedgerow is deteriorating, the birds are silent, the orchard is disappearing and the countryside has changed. This wasn’t how the countryside in Britain was 10 years ago. You might be asking why? The hives are empty. The once buzzing little insect has mysteriously disappeared. Minister lord Rooker says, “The whole honeybee population could be wiped out in 10 years. They say the effect of the disappearances is longer and hotter summer. The prospect of the loss of the disappearing bees has driven journalist and beekeeper Alison Benjamin to write her upcoming book, a world without bees.
