Why Build Awareness?

About “30 million people in the world have autism,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In the United States alone one out of every 150 children born are diagnosed. The problem has become so great that we need your help!

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that usually affects children before they are three years old. It affects their brain in a way that limits their communication, social interaction and thought processes. Some of those affected cannot speak at all.  They even deal with physical ailments such as epilepsy, viral infections, sensory dysfunctions and allergies.

The worst part is that there is no cure! Not enough studies have been conducted to determine the causes. Not knowing the definite cause makes it nearly impossible to find a cure.  Organizations do not have enough funding to carry out more studies and new therapies are so expensive that many families cannot afford to give them to their children. Children and their families are suffering. They cannot face it alone anymore. They need your help!

Now, you can’t fight something you don’t know about, can you? That is why you have to read the pages of our site. After each page take our quizzes to test your knowledge. Share with us by taking our polls.

You cannot imagine what autistic people and their families are going through. So read our interviews so you can hear it first hand. Hear the wishes families have made in the National Autism Association's Virtual Wishing Well.

Then it’s your turn to build awareness.  Spread the word. Volunteer. Search the Internet for ways you can pitch in. Maybe you can be the one to find a cure. Make a donation to the National Autism Association.

You can be the one to change the way a child lives. Help fight the war against autism! Together we can save the world!

Thank you, ThinkQuest, for helping us build autism awareness!
