Barbara Colwell
Executive Director Emeritus

Before heading ThinkQuest NYC, Barbara held senior management positions at priceline.com, CIGNA and TWA. Her expertise is in marketing, strategy and planning.

She currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Mutual Trust Financial Group, Publishers Clearing House and GG Bailey. She has served on numerous not for profit boards including ThinkQuest NYC, Wildlife Trust, Plays for Living and Innovation Network (Chair, 2005-2007). Barbara also serves on a number of advisory boards/councils including: AMEC Americas, the Council on Competitiveness and the marketing council of the American Management Association.

Ms. Colwell earned her MBA from Columbia University. She is a member of the Women’s Forum and until 2008 taught a graduate course in global strategy at GW’s School of International Affairs. Married with grown children, Barbara resides in New York City.

Alison Carrabba
Managing Director

As Managing Director of ThinkQuest NYC, Alison ensures every aspect of TQNYC runs smoothly.

Before joining ThinkQuest NYC, Alison spent a decade as a teacher, most of which was in New York’s public schools (as a bilingual teacher, she taught Kindergarten, first, fourth, fifth and sixth grade classes). After that, she became team leader for an entrepreneurial direct marketing company. She led teams serving Fortune 100 companies, and handled all communications and negotiations with clients and vendors.

In addition to her professional life, Alison is an avid walker (participating in several races a year), world traveler (she’s lived in Madrid, Sydney and Jamaica) and the mother of Emily. She received her BA from Rollins College.

Mickie (Quinn) Boggs
Program Director
Mickie Boggs has been in front of the computer doing graphic design since 1991. In 1995, she built her first website while working at Public Communications in Ithaca, New York. In 1998, she moved to New York City to work for MSN as a designer for Sidewalk/Citysearch. She was recruited away from that job to pursue a Senior Designer position for IGN/Snowball.com creating interactive sites for teens. In 2001, she took her experience to George Washington High School where she taught art and design. In 2002, Mickie began running weekend workshops for educators through ThinkQuest New York City. In 2003, she was hired as Program Director to design the teacher training program for the Internet Challenge and recruit educators to get involved.

In her personal life, Mickie enjoys creating elaborate dinner parties, live music (she has produced shows and events in some of NYC’s biggest rock clubs), and drawing. She earned her BFA from Ithaca College. She is married to voice-over talent Jonathan Boggs.
