When you click on this icon, you will see the following options:

- To DVD is used when you want to export directly to a DVD that you will burn. We will burn the DVD’s later, so we don’t need this one.
- To Tape in only highlighted when a tape device is hooked up to your computer. We won’t be using this one either.
- MPEG… We will be using this one. Below is a picture of the options when you choose MPEG.

We will use this to save a file that we will burn to a DVD. We could also use this to save a file that is suitable for a VCD or SVCD. The default settings should be as in the picture above. If they aren’t you will want them to match the picture. We are specifying that we will create a DVD Compatible file for playing on an NTSC TV or device. NTSC is the standard used in the USA and Japan. PAL is used in many other countries.
- Quicktime… is the other option that we will use. We will use this format for presenting our movies on the web. We are choosing Quicktime because it is the most common cross-platform (Macintosh and Windows) format. When we choose Quicktime we will get the following:

For our purposes we will choose the second preset which is labeled LAN. We are doing this because the Cable Modem, DSL preset saves the file in a size that is too small. The LAN preset saves the file in a Frame Size of 320 x 240 which is much more common for the web these days.
- Windows Media… saves the file in format that plays in Microsoft’s Windows Media Player. We will not be using this.
